Family support

You Don't Need a Diagnosis to Need Support

Parenting is hard even when you are not sure anything is wrong. Parents try their best to support their children, yet there are gaps in the support modern parents receive.

Your child may be struggling with meltdowns, transitions, bedtime, morning routines, sibling conflict, independence, emotional regulation, or challenging behavior. You may have tried parenting strategies, read parenting books, and even spoken with other professionals, while still wondering:

Is this normal for their age? Are we doing something wrong? Do we need professional help? Where do we even start?

That is where family consulting can help.

Pediatric Foundations provides practical, individualized parenting support for families with young children in Fort Collins and throughout Northern Colorado. Together, we will look beyond the behavior itself to understand what may be getting in the way for your child and what you can change to make everyday life work better.

A practical approach

How is family consulting different from therapy?

Family consulting focuses on the practical challenges happening in your family's everyday life. Pediatric Foundations Consulting focuses on parent education and support.

Modern parenting is challenging. Whether the issue is school, busy schedules, neurodivergency, or struggles with behavior, families deserve support. There is a large gap in parent education, skill-building, and advocacy.

Rather than working directly with children alone, our work focuses on understanding your child's development, your family dynamics, environment, skills, and needs. We then make meaningful changes to routines, expectations, and interactions at home that provide more connection with your child and support your entire family ecosystem.

You may be in the right place if

When more support is needed

What if my child needs more than consulting?

Sometimes the most helpful thing I can do for a family is recognize when another professional should be involved.

Family consulting does not replace medical care, mental health therapy, occupational therapy, developmental evaluation, or other clinical services. I do not diagnose or treat medical or mental health conditions, though I have over 20 years of experience working with children with a variety of diagnoses and challenges.

If something I observe suggests that your child may benefit from additional evaluation or specialized support, I will talk with you about it and help you understand what type of professional or service may be appropriate.

Consulting can also complement services your child already receives. Sometimes a family understands what their child needs but needs help figuring out how to make those recommendations actually work at home.

Practical support

Practical support for real family life

You do not need another list of generic parenting tips.

You need strategies that make sense for your child, your home, and your family.

That is the purpose of Pediatric Foundations: helping parents better understand what is behind a difficult behavior, identify the skills their child may still be developing, and create practical strategies that make everyday family life feel more manageable.
